I wrote a term paper in college on the "historical Jesus," which meandered to "son of man" theories. It was a long time ago. I suggest a Google Scholar search of journals.

My suggestion would be Marcus Borg and N.T. Wright, The Meaning of Jesus (1999). Both authors studied with the same prof. They agree on certain historical facts. One is a believer and the other is not. They take turns addressing certain NT issues.

American prisons are bursting at the seams b/c of racism. No other similar country has the prison population that the United States has. Genesis makes clear that the consequence of free will is suffering and death. To ignore these Biblical facts is to live in denial. I am a Christian yet I must repeatedly ask why the suffering and death. God seems limited. Also, why doesn't Jesus heal the entire world during his ministry? He only heals selected individuals. I don't have answers. Neither do you.

I agree that regular JWs will not even know about the case. It may sway those already questioning to leave. If and when a GB member testifies, I hope it is televised (does CA have televised access to trials?) and posted on YouTube. They would crack under cross-examination. I expect they will be evasive but a good trial lawyer can compensate.

Ok, this pope has some pretty good advice here. Take note of #9
by nonjwspouse inthe popes 10 tips for a happier life.
1. live and let live.
everyone should be guided by this principle, he said, which has a similar expression in rome with the saying, move forward and let others do the same.. 2. be giving of yourself to others.

The mere fact that a pope stated these items is extraordinary. I am glad he is pope. Now let us move to pro-choice and birth control.

Talk about bad lawyers. I posted so many times commenting that someone bright enough to be a lawyer must have serious personal issues to believe in the WT. Did they hire outside counsel? If they used a WT lawyer, time to hire outside counsel and consultants.

BOTR: I have better things to do. It takes time to read documents. No legal case is ever presented accurately on this forum. The titles are misleading. My comments are mixed. I love the comparison to Jesus of Nazareth before the Sanhedrin. My guess is that they can easily afford $13 million, if necessary. This will be appealed. Another guess is that compliance with court ordered discovery may have cost them far more. I thought a judge could compel discovery.

Does The State Have The Right To Quarantine Someone Because They Might Have Ebola?

I remember quarantine signs on houses. It was common in the early to mid-1950s. I wish people would not come to work with colds or flu.

Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?
by Gnostic Bishop inhave you investigated gnostic christianity?.
the gnostic wing of christianity, if it can even be called that today, has quite a few differences to christianity and catholicism.
if the old gnostic christians were here, they would hardly recognize what has happened to the original orthodox catholic church or its various offshoots in protestantism and islam.

I chose mainstream Christianity decades ago. The Cathedral Church of St. John Divine, Union Theological Seminary and Woodstock Jesuit Seminary played major roles in my decision. I stumbled upon them just as I was tasting freedom for the first time. Mainstream churches are safe. The diocese wanted me to try being a canonical lawyer so I took a Systematic Theology course at General Theological, the Episcopal seminary. I expected a very Anglican experience. To my surprise and delight, the class was composed of students from all the Protestant denominations and the Orthodox church. Daniel Berrigan and other Jesuits showed me that Roman Catholicism can be delightful and intelligent. There is lay/clergy traffic in Columbia's neighborhood. Once for about four weeks, the Cathedral priests were joined by the Woodstock Catholic priests in consecrating the Eucharist. I was told it would not last long once the higher powers found out. It was very exciting.
John's gospel approaches Gnosticism, in my opinion. No one imposes "doctrinal rules" on my thought process. My views are pretty tame compared to other worshipers. Christianity can be elegant. The music can touch part of you that you didn't know existed. Art in all its forms can be sponsored. I almost did not get confirmed b/c I could not pin down doctrines the way Witnesses do. I was told that the Church is a community asking questions together. My questions begin with why suffering exists and when Christ will come. What His Second Coming will bring I can't begin to imagine. Unlike some here, Christ does not talk to me. Perhaps I will want normal life. I do feel gnostic strands in my soul but physicality is important to me.

The Episcopal Church defines hell as alienation from God. No one is teaching hell fire in mainstream denominations. I am so tired of Christianity being defined by a bunch of ignorant fundamentalist nuts.
